Hi everyone!
I’m going to keep it short and sweet this week. Fall is in full swing here in upstate New York. My oldest just started kindergarten (tears!) and patient volumes are picking up in the clinical setting.
IRA's, 401k's, pensions, oh my...
But, I have found time to nerd out on the IRS website and put together this retirement account cheat sheet for you. Like the medical student loans cheat sheet, I needed a one-page summary to keep them all straight in my head.
Let me know what you think.
I took most of the information from the IRS website itself, but if you see anything amiss, please let me know- this is a living document and I’ll update it. I hope some of you find this helpful. I will email this cheat sheat out to my subscribers as a printable one page PDF, so if you’re not a subscriber already, go ahead and sign up at the top right or at the very bottom of this page.
The biggest point here is that employer sponsored retirement plans are not the be all end all. There are others available to most individuals like the Roth or Backdoor Roth IRA and HSA. If a person has a business, they also have access to small business retirement accounts like the solo 401k. I went down the rabbit hole and got into the different options employers have for retirement plans just for fun (yes, I know I have a very nerdy sense of fun. I’m owning it).
Women in Medicine Summit
Finally, if you’re looking for a place to get your CME for the year without traveling, I have a great deal for you. I’m honored to be speaking at The Women in Medicine Summit by Dr. Shikha Jain Kumar next month and I have the opportunity to get you guys a discount if we get together a group of 4 or more!
If you’re interested, email me at editor@thefrugalphysician.com or drop a comment here with your email, so I can get you the discount code!
There are 12.5 CME available and awesome talks for both men and women. While the majority of the content is geared toward women, there is also a HeforShe track. I am very excited to learn from the amazing faculty at this conference.
Till next week!
Stay frugal, y’all!
